Application Prepare the surface you want to use the filler on, remove any dust or dirt from the surface and brush out any loose material from the edges of a crack. Thoroughly wet out the area you will be applying the filler.
Knock up the required quantity of Putty Fine Surface filler, add a little water if needed, to get a paste like consistency. After application keep the area damp for a day or so to allow the filler to settle back without shrinkage. If you do experience shrinkage, re dampen the area with a mist sprayer and re-apply the filler, it can be reapplied over existing material to fill the new shrinkage cracks. After it has gained enough strength it should be sand-able for a couple of days, however we cannot tell you exactly when this will be as it will depend on how absorbent the background is it has been applied to.
We recommend painting with a vapour open paint afterwards to hide any mismatch or scarring where the filler was used.
Health and Safety
Wear all appropriate PPE for handling Lime Mortars. This includes but is not limited to; Long sleeve clothing, goggles and gloves. For full details please obtain a MSDS.
Storage and Shelf Life
The Fine Surface Filler should be kept in cool dry conditions in a sealed tub. It has a shelf life of approximately 2 years from the date of manufacture. If you only use part of a tub it should retain that shelf life so long as the tub is properly resealed after use.
Disposal
Any unused filler should be disposed of as if it were a lime mortar, for domestic residences this means disposal at a local recycling centre. Rinse the tub out well with water and recycle where possible.
